John Thompson Jr. and Chuck Sapienza spent about 12 minutes on ESPN 980 Monday afternoon discussing the bombshell story that Maryland AD Kevin Anderson will not permit any Terps team to play any Georgetown team until the men’s basketball scheduling dispute is resolved.

Since I’ve spent like 15 percent of my recent work time reading and/or writing about Ted Leonsis’s thoughts about The Washington Post, I can hardly ignore his suggestions to The Post sports department.

Last week came word that Clinton Portis still wanted to play NFL football, and that he had struggled with the idea of playing in 2011 because he was “heartbroken” over the end of his Redskins tenure.

Monday, Portis explained himself further during an interview with John Thompson on ESPN 980, and he took the love metaphor to the next step.

A good many Nats fans have publicly wished for a live Web cam feed from Viera, so instead of working they could watch the breezy sunshine and pleasant ballgames taking place just steps from one of the finest Panera sandwich shops in the land.

The drama this week came not in the standings, but with Maryland AD Kevin Anderson’s declaration that his school will no longer schedule Georgetown in any sport. As voter J.P. Finlay noted, it’s like the Terps are cutting off their nose to spite their shell.

If you want to spend 51 seconds not learning anything about what the Redskins plan to do at the quarterback position next season, you could go eat some rice pudding, or draw a picture of clouds with oil pastels, or bang your head into a wall 51 times, or watch this clip from Redskins Nation.

Because these are the Wizards, and this is what they do, Nick Young stopped in at a traditional Pakistani wedding that was being held in the team hotel in Phoenix over the weekend.

The ultimate compliment for Charlie Slowes comes after a loss, when Nats fans tell the team’s radio play-by-play announcer that they enjoyed the broadcast despite the result.

Which means for Slowes and his partner, Dave Jageler, there have been plenty of opportunities for such compliments during their six seasons together in the booth. Slowes called the team’s inaugural 2005 campaign and was joined by Jageler in 2006; the team is 148 games under .500 since their pairing.

Quite a day for Clinton Portis news, unexpectedly. First, his agent told NFL.com’s Steve Wyche that a handful of teams have expressed interest in the former Redskins back, and that he will meet with them at next week’s combine. Quoting the site:

Rather than waiting for news stories about ticket prices to appear after season-ticket invoices are mailed, owner Ted Leonsis got ahead of the news this week by sending an e-mail to season-ticket holders himself. In that e-mail, he announced that most season-ticket prices will increase (by an average of 8 percent) next season, the fifth straight year that most prices will go up. (Although Leonsis said that prices for some of the seats will actually decrease).
